What are the SAG Awards?
The 160,000 performers who are members of SAG/AFTRA cast their votes to honor their fellow peers at this Hollywood event. The statuettes handed out are called Actors. Instead of categories for best picture or best TV drama, the SAG Awards recognize ensemble and individual performances.

Who is hosting?
Kristen Bell was the host in 2018, and last year Megan Mullally hilariously guided our way through the show. SAG has announced that Joey King and Logan Browning are co-ambassadors of the ceremony, but there is no official host this time around.

Who is nominated?
The casts of “Bombshell,” “Marriage Story” and “Once Upon a Time in Hollywood” led film nominations with four each. “The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel” scored the most nominations among television series. Robert De Niro will receive a Life Achievement Award for his work on screen and humanitarian accomplishments.

How to watch
The SAG Awards air Sunday at at 8pm on TNT/TBS. Like CNN, those networks are owned by Warner Media.

SAG Awards 2020: Complete list of nominations, channel, time and Robert De Niro’s life achievement award

As awards season carries on, the 2020 Screen Actors Guild Awards are back this weekend.

The SAG Awards are hosted by the Screen Actors Guild‐American Federation of Television and Radio Artists, SAG-AFTRA, meaning awards for actors are decided by their peers.

Here are details on what to expect and how to watch as well as a complete list of nominees.

Robert De Niro’s life achievement award
Robert De Niro will receive the 2020 SAG Life Achievement Award, which recognizes career achievement and humanitarian accomplishment.

The two-time Oscar winner (“The Godfather Part II,” “Raging Bull”) also received the Cecil B. DeMille Award at the Golden Globes in 2011.

“Robert De Niro is an actor of extraordinary depth and ability,” said Gabrielle Carteris, president of SAG-AFTRA, in a statement. “The characters he creates captivate our imaginations. From the smoldering inferno of young Vito Corleone to the raging bull Jake LaMotta and everybody’s grandpa Ben Whittaker, he continues to touch our hearts and open our minds to new and exciting worlds of understanding and emotion.”

De Niro, 76, stars as Frank Sheeran in Martin Scorsese’s Oscar-nominated film “The Irishman,” which is nominated for the SAG Award for outstanding performance by a cast in a motion picture. Sheeran claimed to have killed Teamsters union leader Jimmy Hoffa (played by Al Pacino in the film).

De Niro can also be seen in the film “Joker,” which is nominated for the most Oscars this year (11).

Leonardo DiCaprio, who is nominated for a SAG Award for lead actor for his role in “Once Upon a Time in Hollywood” (and a lead actor Oscar for the same role), will present De Niro with the life achievement award.

DiCaprio, 45, first worked with De Niro as a teen actor in the 1993 film “This Boy’s Life,” in which De Niro played his character’s violent, menacing stepfather. The pair went on to star in “Marvin’s Room” in 1996 (and Martin Scorsese’s short film “The Audition” in 2015).
